After getting married on Maui eight years ago, my husband and I backpacked around the world for a year, taking candid pictures of people and animals in over 20 countries. After choosing Maui as a place to raise our family, I started shooting portraits and weddings as a career. Since I was married on Maui, I understand what couples are going through in finding the right photographer--usually done from a distance.
My philosophy in taking pictures is to capture the candid and spontaneous moments of a wedding or event. I never interrupt or try to choreograph a wedding. I like to cover the quiet, tender moments as well as the show stoppers and details that you have worked on so tirelessly.
Since I take a photojournalistic approach, I like to shoot the entire event. I want to capture the whole day, from the bride getting ready to the cutting of the cake. Since I digitally shoot all my pictures, I can transpose the shots into black and white or sepia tones after the event.
I take a similar approach to my portrait sessions. I make it fun for the family or couple which helps them relax in front of the camera. Since I have children of my own (pictured on the left), I know how to bring out their special giggles and smiles. Most portrait sessions are done on one of Maui's beautiful beaches. However, I can also come to your own home and family.
After the wedding or portrait session, I upload the pictures to Pictage.com, a premiere internet company specializing in online photo sharing and photography services for you and your friends to order from. Click on the link below to see a sample wedding.
